Showing the hidden files & folders
In the event you think that your Windows 7 operating method user profile might get corrupted, or when you log on to Windows & find that there is a mistake message telling you that the user profile might get corrupted, you will feel the necessity to have a backup of the user profile files. If the user wishes to have a backup, then he/she must be prepared to set Windows Explorer for showing the hidden files & folders, or set the Windows Explorer for showing the protected operating method files. The Windows 7 users must know that important files & folders are hidden by default. The users have the choice to adjust the settings for enabling Windows Explorer to show the hidden files as well as the folders. For doing this, the user has to open any folder & select "Organize" option & then access the "Folder & Search options". In the Folder Options dialog, the users must select the "View" tab & then scroll down for choosing the "Show hidden files & folders" option.
In case the users need to see the method files, they must uncheck the "Hide protected method files" option & then click on "OK" for saving the settings.
Showing protected operating method files
In case you need to hide the files & folders later on, revert the steps.
Windows 7 by default hides the important files & folders, which are known as the protected operating method files. The protected operating method files are not shown in the Windows Explorer. The settings can be changed for showing these files in Windows Explorer. For this, the user must open any folder & select "Organize". The user must then access "Folder & Search options" & select the "View" tab available in the Folder Options window. Now the user must scroll down & locate the box that is labeled "Hide protected operating method files" for unchecking it. Ultimately, the user must click on "OK" for saving the settings.
Having followed the aforementioned steps, the user must now pay attention to having the backup of the user profile. The user must press the Windows logo key & the R key together for opening the Run dialog. In the Run dialog box, the user must type "%USERPROFILE%" & then hit the Enter key for the user profile folder.
Make positive that you pick all files & folders in the user profile folder excluding the files that are beginning with "Ntuser". Then click on "Edit" & go to "Copy" for copying these files. Now you may open a folder where it is feasible to save the backup.
