VGA Matrix Switch is a hardware product which can route videos from multiple VGA computers to multiple displays. VGA signals from a single computer can be routed to multiple monitors or multiple signals can be relayed to a single display making a web like pattern of interconnection possibilities. A mix of a VGA splitter and switch in to a single unit, this device splits the signals, boosts or amplifies them and then relays them to different output devices. Available in sizes ranging from 2x2, 4x4 up to 32x16, some models of these switches may even be cascaded or daisy chained together to accomplish even greater configurations.
While the 4x4 VGA Matrix switch consists of single inputs and single outputs, the 8 in 8 out Matrix Switch, allows routing of video from up to 8 computers to 8 VGA Monitors. Any input can be connected to any of the output which makes it flexible making a matrix pattern. Resultant images are crystal clear appearing as though they are connected directly to the source. Resolutions of 1920 x 1200 are supported by this device which supports all signal formats such as VGA, SVGA, XGA and UXGA. Both the input and output connectors are HD 15 female.
Among the numerous advantages of the VGA Matrix Switcher, the key benefit is the elimination of connecting and reconnecting the VGA cables. Switching between the multiple sources can be done either through front panel push buttons, RS232, Infra Red remote or TCP/IP and telnet control depending on the model of the switch. LEDs on the front indicate the connection status. Operating on a high bandwidth ranging between 380 - 450MHz, this device has the ability to balance color signals internally. Since standard VGA cables are used for securing connections, it eliminates the necessity for bulky coax cables with BNC connectors. Available in both, desktop and rack mountable versions, the VGA Matrix Switch is simple to set up.
Working on simple plug and play functionality, this device does not require any device drivers or additional application. Some models come with a control application driver which is Windows-based. Consuming power up to 10W, this switch needs an operating temperature of 32°F to 100 °F (0 °C to 38 °C), Storage temperature of 20 °F to 140 °F (-30 60 °C) and Operating and Storage Relative Humidity between 17 to 90% non-condensing RH. Due to all its above mentioned features, this device is ideal for applications which require to be displayed from multiple computers, e.g. Classrooms, Trade fairs, Courtrooms, Digital signage, Entertainment facilities, Check bench facilities, Remote monitoring, Training facilities and Boardrooms.
